Group 8 Opens for Property Tax Appeals at Board of Review

cook seal v2The Cook County Board of Review (CCBOR) has opened Group 8 townships for 2017 property tax appeals. If your home is located in one of the townships listed below you have until the deadline of January 31st to appeal your 2017 assessment at the CCBOR.

Board of Review Opens Group 8 for 2019 Appeals

BOR Group 8The Cook County Board of Review has opened 2019 property tax appeals for the eighth group. The Board’s deadline to appeal your 2019 assessed value is December 31st. Below are the townships that are currently open in Group 8:

  • Jefferson
  • Orland
  • Palatine
  • Schaumburg
  • Wheeling

If you missed your appeal opportunity at the Assessor’s office earlier in the year, or if you did appeal and weren’t satisfied with the result, you have a second opportunity to appeal at the Board of Review. Appealing your home’s 2019 assessed value is the only way to achieve property tax relief on your second installment property tax bill in July 2020, other than selling your home or claiming a new exemption. Assessments can be appealed every year, regardless of when a township was reassessed.

Schaumburg Township 2019 Triennial Reassessments Mailed

Schaumburg 2019 Triennial reassessment notices were mailed to Schaumburg Township homeowners on Friday, August 16th. The following cities, towns, and villages are in Schaumburg Township: Elk Grove Village, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Rolling Meadows (south edge), Roselle, Schaumburg, and Streamwood. Homeowners in Schaumburg Township have 30 days to appeal their assessment at the Assessor’s office (there will be a second opportunity to appeal later in the year at the Board of Review, whether you appeal at the Assessor’s office or not). The deadline for appealing at the Assessor’s office is September 16th.

Valuation statistics for Schaumburg Township will be published by the Cook County Assessor’s office here when they become available.
