Bloom Township 2024 Assessment Notices Mailed

Wednesday, October 16, 2024, the Cook County Assessor’s office mailed 2024 property assessment notices to Bloom  Township property owners. The window for appealing your 2024 assessed value is now open and will remain so until the deadline of November 29, 2024.

Bloom  Township includes the following cities, towns, and villages: Chicago Heights, Flossmoor, Ford Heights, Glenwood (almost all), Homewood (portion), Lansing, Lynwood, Olympia Fields, Park Forest, Sauk Village (almost all), South Chicago Heights, and Steger. Continue reading

Board of Review Opens Group 4 for 2023 Appeals

The Cook County Board of Review has opened 2023 property tax appeals for the fourth group. The Board’s deadline to appeal your 2023 assessed value is December 12, 2023. Below are the townships that are currently open in Group 4:

  • Bloom
  • Elk Grove
  • Maine
  • Palatine
  • Palos
  • Thornton

Assessments can be appealed every year, regardless of when a township was reassessed. If you missed your appeal opportunity at the Assessor’s office earlier in the year, or if you did appeal and weren’t satisfied with the result, you have a second opportunity to appeal at the Board of Review. Appealing your home’s 2023 assessed value is the only way to achieve property tax relief on your second installment property tax bill in the fall of 2024, other than selling your home or claiming a new exemption.

The 30-day window to appeal your 2022 assessed value is now open until the deadline of August 29th. Bloom Township 2020 Triennial Reassessments Mailed

2020 Triennial reassessment notices were mailed to Bloom Township homeowners on Thursday, October 08, 2020. Homeowners in Bloom Township have 35 days to appeal their assessment at the Assessor’s office (there will be a second opportunity to appeal later in the year at the Board of Review, whether you appeal at the Assessor’s office or not). The deadline for appealing at the Assessor’s office is November 12th.
