Board of Review Opens Group 1 for 2021 Appeals

The Cook County Board of Review has opened 2021 property tax appeals for the first group. The Board’s deadline to appeal your 2021 assessed value is January 04, 2022. Below are the townships that are currently open in Group 1:

  • Norwood Park
  • Oak Park
  • River Forest
  • Riverside

Assessments can be appealed every year, regardless of when a township was reassessed. If you missed your appeal opportunity at the Assessor’s office earlier in the year, or if you did appeal and weren’t satisfied with the result, you have a second opportunity to appeal at the Board of Review. Appealing your home’s 2021 assessed value is the only way to achieve property tax relief on your second installment property tax bill in July 2022, other than selling your home or claiming a new exemption.

Lake View Township 2021 Triennial Reassessments Mailed

2021 Triennial reassessment notices were mailed to Lake View Township homeowners on Monday, November 22, 2021. The following cities, towns, and villages are in Lake View Township: Bucktown, Edgewater, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Lincoln Square, North Center, Old Town Triangle, Ravenswood, Roscoe Village, Uptown, and Wrigleyville.

Homeowners in Lake View Township have 31 days to appeal their assessment at the Assessor’s office (there will be a second opportunity to appeal later in the year at the Board of Review, whether you appeal at the Assessor’s office or not). The deadline for appealing at the Assessor’s office is December 23rd.

We recommend homeowners review their assessment annually, particularly in a triennial reassessment year, to ensure they do not pay more than their fair share in property taxes. Successfully appealing in a reassessment year may provide 3 years of savings on future property tax bills. 2021 Triennial reassessment notices were mailed to Lake Township homeowners on Thursday, November 04, 2021. The following cities, towns, and villages are in Lake Township: Back of the Yards and Englewood.

Homeowners in Lake Township have 32 days to appeal their assessment at the Assessor’s office (there will be a second opportunity to appeal later in the year at the Board of Review, whether you appeal at the Assessor’s office or not). Niles Township 2021 Assessment Notices Mailed

The window to appeal your 2021 assessed value is now open until the deadline of December 03, 2021. 2021 property assessment notices were mailed to Niles Township property owners by the Cook County Assessor’s Office on Monday, November 01, 2021.  The following cities, towns, and villages are in Niles Township: Glenview, Golf, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove (east 3/4), Niles (southeast half), and Skokie.

The following cities, towns, and villages are in Rich Township: Country Club Hills, Flossmoor (west 3/4), Frankfort, Hazel Crest, Homewood, Matteson (majority), Olympia Fields (the vast majority), Park Forest (north 3/4), Richton Park, Tinley Park (portion), and University Park (portion).

The Assessor’s Office has mailed 2021 assessment notices to Stickney property owners. You may appeal your assessment each year during the 46-day window which is now open and will close on November 15th. The following cities, towns, and villages are in Stickney Township: Bedford Park (east 3/4), Bridgeview, Burbank, Forest View (majority), and Stickney.
