Board of Review Opens Group 8 for 2019 Appeals

BOR Group 8The Cook County Board of Review has opened 2019 property tax appeals for the eighth group. The Board’s deadline to appeal your 2019 assessed value is December 31st. Below are the townships that are currently open in Group 8:

  • Jefferson
  • Orland
  • Palatine
  • Schaumburg
  • Wheeling

If you missed your appeal opportunity at the Assessor’s office earlier in the year, or if you did appeal and weren’t satisfied with the result, you have a second opportunity to appeal at the Board of Review. Appealing your home’s 2019 assessed value is the only way to achieve property tax relief on your second installment property tax bill in July 2020, other than selling your home or claiming a new exemption. Assessments can be appealed every year, regardless of when a township was reassessed.

Whether you appealed at the Assessor’s office earlier this year or not, and whether your appeal was successful or not, everyone has the opportunity to appeal at the Board of Review to ensure their 2018 assessment is fair. Jefferson Township Triennial Reassessment Notices Mailed

Cook County Property Tax AppealJefferson Township triennial reassessment notices were mailed on Monday, July 16th by the Cook County Assessor’s office. Jefferson valuation statistics from the Assessor’s office can be found here. Homeowners in Jefferson Township have 30 days to appeal their assessment at the Assessor’s office (there is also a second opportunity later in the year at the Board of Review). The deadline for appealing your assessment at the Assessor’s office is August 16th.

We suggest reviewing your assessment annually, especially in a reassessment year, to ensure you do not pay more than your fair share in property taxes. Jefferson Township Assessment Notices Mailed

Assessment notices for Jefferson Township have been mailed by the Cook County Assessor’s office. August 28th is the last day to file a property tax appeal at the Assessor’s office.Jefferson

Cook County divides townships into three groups for the purposes of reassessment. Jefferson Township is in the City of Chicago group which was last reassessed in 2015. An appeal in 2017 will result in one year of savings, until Jefferson is reassessed in 2018.
